McDonnell Speaks to CME
May 18, 2005
Mary M. McDonnell, President and Chief Executive Officer
of Geneva Trading, USA, LLC spoke at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s
(CME) All Employee Meeting in Chicago.
A 25-year veteran of the futures industry and one
of the foremost experts on exchange operations, Ms. McDonnell lauded
the CME for its "innovation and flexibility to grow their new
electronic markets." In first quarter 2005, about 20% of Geneva
Trading's total volume was done on the CME, a 50% increase over
2004.
Ms. McDonnell also added that CME has been quick to
respond to the needs of customers like Geneva Trading. And she said
CME recognizes the fast changing environment of the derivatives
industry "by providing enhanced trading opportunities for their
customers."
Ms. McDonnell also urged the exchange to create a
personalized relationship with its customers, provide prompt responses
to messages and show gratitude for the business customers bring
to the exchange. She also reminded CME that it must continue to
be mindful of price and costs incurred by customers.
Prior to joining Geneva in April 2003, she served
as Senior Vice President at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), responsible
for all electronic trading.
